Acnistus arborescens (syn. A. australe)/Iochroma australis (syn. Dunalia australis)
Verschiedene Namen für diese Kübelpflanze, die ich vor nunmehr drei Jahren als Steckling in Herrn Näsers Garten gekauft habe, der hin und wieder Führungen in seinem Bornimer Garten anbietet. Viele Informationen hatte ich über diese wunderschöne blaue Solanaceae habe ich bisher nicht gefunden.
Er taucht im Handel als "Australischer Glockenbaumstrauch" auf, obwohl seine Herkunft wohl Mexiko ist.
Bisher wuchs er recht bäumchenförmig, bis er dieses Jahr doch mehr breit als hoch wurde , und ich mich anfing zu wundern. Dann las ich einer Quelle, dass er in seiner Heimat ein Spreizklimmer ist und meterhoch wandern kann. Wenn man ihn als Kübelpflanze halten will, dann ist ein richtiger Schnitt notwendig. Die Frage ist dann allerdings, was für einer?

Reading the scientific name you might think it is native in Australia , but as I found out it is originated in Mexiko. That explains it´s soft wide-spreading creeping growth. The link tells you, if you want to grow it as a patio-plant you have to cut it regularly. It is hardy in zone 9 to 11, as we live in zone 7 , it stays the winter in a cool stairway. It is easy to overwinter and starts blossoming early in march . I haven´t found out yet how to make cuttings, I never succeeded the first time, I tried. But I'll have another go.
Interesting blue flower, grst pictures in the rest of your posts, but that water lily is still my favourite.

Very pretty flower. It looks more purple than blue to me. Sometimes I wonder if my color sense is off.

Diese Kübelpflanze ähnelt doch sehr einer Engelstrompete. Laub und Blütenform sind sehr ähnlich. Was super schön daran ist, dass sie Blau ist. Sag, wie groß sind die Blüten?

@Aiyana: I am sure your colour sense is alright, the blossoms of my plant are more violet than blue, but I was reading Acnistus australe is also available in pink and white.

@Birgit: Der Veilchenstrauch wurde wohl auch erst bei den Engeltrompeten "eingetütet". Wenn Du im österreichischen Link, den Name der Pflanze eingibst, wird das auch dort noch einmal erklärt.
Die Blüten sind aber wesentlich kleiner als bei der Engelstrompete, so ca. 5 cm lang. Er blüht aber zeitweise sehr üppig. Momentan ist eher Blühpause.

Hallo Sisah, als der Strauch bei uns in good old Germany eingeführt wurde, las ich, daß er die Nationalblume von Peru ist. Mich hat das Blau schon auf einer Orchideenausstellung in München sehr beeindruckt. Damals war Acnistus der gängige Name, in "meiner" Garten- Literatur hat man sich aber auf

AntwortenLöschenWurzerl: Wenn man sich durch das Netz googelt wird die Namensgebung immer unklarer . Iochroma ist ein Gattungsname für viele verschiedene Veilchensträucher,wobei viele meiner nicht sehr ähnlich sind.Welcher nun aktuell ist vermag ich niicht zu sagen.
AntwortenLöschenMerkwürdig, dass in der Orchideenaustellung diese Pflanze als Nationalpflanze vorgestellt wurde, Cantuta buxifolia wird im Netz als peruanische Nationalpflanze vorgestellt. Wann wurde denn diese "Blaue Blume" in Good Old Germany eingeführt?
